Pharmaceutical sourcing trade shows CPhI and P-MEC China have celebrated their 10-year partnership with record attendance, organisers confirmed.
Officials have released visitor numbers for the Shanghai event, held on 24-26 June 2015, confirming it was the largest to date.
Jointly organised by UBM EMEA and the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Medicines and Health Products (CCCMHPIE), in conjunction with UBM Sinoexpo, the exhibition and conference welcomed more than 64,000 visitors to the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC).
Exhibition space for the three-day trade show, the second-largest in UBM EMEA’s conference portfolio, increased 150,000sqm for the 2015 edition, while exhibitor numbers were up 2.4 per cent to more than 2,600.
UBM EMA group director pharma Chris Kilbee said CPhI China was the second-longest running event in the CPhI portfolio.
“With consistent, strong growth forecast for the China pharma market over the next decade, CPhI and P-MEC China remains as crucial as ever in providing a platform for global pharma executives, manufacturers and suppliers to meet,” Kilbee said.
“The past 15 years have brought concurrent progress to the event and wider industry and UBM EMEA will continue to uphold the trust of the industry as we look forward to the next 15 years with immutable enthusiasm.”
Organisers reported a 6 per cent increase in pre-registered international visitors, as well as a 27 per cent increase in domestic visitors.
Co-located with Fi Asia China (FiAC), the event’s conference programme offered more than 70 free seminars, complemented by a buyers sourcing event and 72 hours of networking functions. Based on visitor feedback, it also featured specialised exhibitor zones and a free mobile app to help with navigation.
To celebrate CPhI’s 15-year anniversary, the exhibition included the inaugural CPhI China Pharma Awards, honouring outstanding contributions to the industry by leading pharma companies.
CPhI, which focuses on all steps of the pharmaceutical supply chain, brings together more than 100,000 professionals annually for events in Europe, Korea, China, India, Japan, south east Asia, Istanbul and Russia.
