Geneva’s Palexpo SA has teamed up with technology specialist Planet Intus SA to install beacon based geolocation infrastructure throughout its exhibition halls.
The system will give organisers and exhibitors access to live-marketing tools to improve the quality of instant information provided to visitors.
Using an app, visitors find their location in exhibition halls, be guided to points of interest and receive messages from exhibitors.
“This partnership is one more building block in Palexpo’s strategy to round off its range of services, especially its digital services,” explained Claude Membrez, Palexpo’s managing director.
Officials said additional functions, such as the option to pinpoint the location of friends at events, would be added in the future.
Sébastien Dury, managing director of Planet Intus, which specialises in geolocation systems, said the company was proud to be involved in the project.
“Providing a mobile app incorporating all options offered by the latest indoor geolocation technologies is a first in Switzerland and we are sure that our example will trigger a snowball effect,” Dury said.
