Beijing expects CIBTM to become lead industry event in the ASEAN region

CHINA - Organiser Reed Travel Exhibitions’ (RTE) says it is “delighted with the response” from the local and international meetings industry for the latest edition of its China Incentive Business Travel and Meetings Exhibition (CIBTM 2010) in Beijing.

Claiming this year’s edition as the “largest ever” in terms of floor space, hosted buyer numbers and exhibitors RTE said the show attracted a 16 per cent rise in hosted buyers and trade visitors on 2009’s figures.

“The meetings industry in China is now really beginning to take shape. We are delighted with the response and feedback at this year's show,” says exhibition manager Jeffrey Xu. “In 2009, we launched China Meetings Week and this has clearly increased the profile of the show dramatically, resulting in larger numbers of corporate Chinese buyers - key to the development of the show and its exhibitors.”

Deputy director general of co-organiser of the event, the Beijing Tourism Administration’s (BTA), Ms Gu, expects CIBTM to become the leading event for the meetings industry in ASEAN within the next three years.

RTE claims the show saw attendance at its 17 education sessions increase 30 per cent on last year.

The new dates for CIBTM 2011 are 30 August - 1 September at the same venue, the China National Convention Centre.
