Global Gaming Expo moves to new Las Vegas home

USA – The American Gaming Association (AGA) has confirmed its flagship event is moving to the Sands Expo and Convention Centre in 2011.

Seen by many as the gambling industry's marquee event, the Global Gaming Expo (G2E) is moving location within Las Vegas to give casinos more leeway to buy products and potentially boost exhibitors' profits. The event’s current home, the Las Vegas Convention Centre, is unable to accommodate the show’s move from November to October, which the organiser believes will increase the event’s appeal to exhibitors.

The deal means the 2011 G2E will take place at a venue with hotel rooms and restaurants, the first time it has done so. The Venetian and Palazzo have a combined 7,000 rooms and more than 30 restaurants.

"It's a great facility with tremendous room to grow," said AGA president Frank Fahrenkopf. "It will be unique for G2E to have all that under one roof."

Confirming the deal with Sands venue owner (LVSC), Fahrenkopf added that the event’s Asian counterpart, G2E Asia, held each June at LVSC-owned Venetian Macau, will also move forward to late May.
