New exhibition centre opens in New York

USA – New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Centre has announced the opening of a new exhibition hall.

Javits North is a pre-engineered structure that provides 80,000sqm of exhibition space at the venue. It just held its first event, the business journals show Fame, and is now fully open for business.

The opening of Javits North signals the completions of the expansion phase of the project, while renovations to the main Javits facility continue. This includes replacement of curtain walls, skylights, enlargement of the main entrances and a 'green' roof that will be installed which the Centre claims will be "the largest in the Northeast".

The $1.7bn renovation project kicked off last summer and is expected to wrap up by the end of 2013.
