GERMANY - The European Association of Event Centres (EVVC) has become the first association in Germany to gain a Green Globe environmental certification.
“For us, the certification is only the beginning of a process, which should entail a continuous improvement of our sustainable activities,” says head office manager for EVVC Martina Engert. “Even in a small organisation like ours, it is important to establish and strengthen a conscious and sustainable thinking and action,” she adds.
In May of this year, the EVVC and Green Globe developed and introduced a joint certification process for event venues which has already been completed by 15 venues.
The EVVC represents over 600 event centres, exhibition centres, conference centres, and arenas in countries including Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Italy.
