$47bn in deals signed at 2010 Farnborough Airshow

UK – More than US$47bn in deals were closed at the Farnborough International Airshow this year, with Airbus taking the lion’s share.

Both the manufacturers Airbus and Boeing won a combined order of almost 240 jetliners worth around $43bn at this year’s Farnborough International Airshow.

Airbus, which showcased its record-breaking A380, won $13.2bn in contracts compared to Boeing’s $10bn.

Aircraft manufacturer Bombardier boasted business worth approximately $1bn, and Brazil-based Embraer won 37 contracts worth $1.4bn for its regional jets.

The biggest single airline contract was signed by Dubai-based Emirates, which purchased 12 Boeing 777-300ER long-haul planes valued at $3.1bn.
