WTM set to expand speed networking programme

UK - Reed Exhibitions, the organiser of travel and tourism trade exhibition World Travel Market (WTM), is set to expand the 2010 show’s speed networking programme by adding two new sessions: ‘UK and Ireland’ and ‘Technology and Online Travel’.

Reed claims last year’s speed networking sessions “played an important role in business deals generated from WTM 2009”. According to the findings by independent research firm, Fusion Communications, the deals generated at the show totalled £1,139m.

The Speed Networking programme will include 240 buyers from WTM’s Meridian Club, compared to 160 last year, who will network and negotiate with more than 1,000 exhibitors.

“Last year’s success demonstrates the growing importance speed networking plays in developing business relationships,” says the Meridian Club marketing manager, Mark Jakobsen. “The programme epitomises the aim of WTM, which is to facilitate business between exhibitors and the travel industry’s senior buyers.”
