UK – This year’s UNWTO Ministers’ Summit at the World Travel Market (WTM) will conclude with a statement of intent outlining the future direction of the travel and tourism industry.
More than 147 tourism ministers and aides attending the 9 November London summit, titled ‘Shaping a stronger travel and tourism industry – governance and business models for the future’, will work out a plan and direction for the industry for the next 12 months.
It will be the first time global travel ministers will have agreed a set of actions and principles for the future of the industry, according to the organiser of WTM, Reed Expo.
“The 2010 Ministers’ Summit provides a crucial platform for public and private stakeholders to address current global challenges” said UNWTO Secretary-General, Taleb Rifai. “This is a unique opportunity for ministers from around the globe to share experiences and set the outline for the future of the industry."
Also, for the first time this year, the event will host the WTM Ministerial Evening at St Paul’s Cathedral, offering tourism ministers entertainment from a leading London West End musical production.
The UNWTO Ministers’ Summit at WTM takes place at Excel London on 9 November 2010.
