Government to sponsor first Taiwan cultural and creative trade fair

TAIWAN - An international trade fair featuring cultural and creative industries will be held in Taipei to help local operators tap into global markets.

The council aims to attract at least 500 local companies in related fields to take part in the fair and has secured the local government as sponsor.

"It will mark the first time that the government has ever sponsored an international trade fair to promote our fledgling creative and cultural industries and help operators establish their own brands," says minister of the Council for Cultural Affairs (CCA), Emile Sheng.

Sheng adds that the event will cost an estimated NT$100m (US$3.13m), NT$60m of which will be raised by the business sector.

A special exhibition hall will be installed to exhibit items, designs or concepts related to aesthetics in everyday life, designed to encourage the linkage of cultural and creative industries to daily living.

The as-yet-unnamed exhibition will take place 11 – 14 November at the Nangang Exhibition Hall.
