Reed chief denies Exhibitions sale

WORLD - Chief executive for Reed, Erik Engstrom, has insisted that Reed Exhibitions is not for sale, and no bids have been made to purchase it.

The announcement comes as private equity firms pressure the publisher and information provider Reed Elsevier, worth an estimated £1.5bn, to sell its exhibitions division.

Reed Exhibitions’ operating profit was £152m in 2009, a 17 per cent decline from the previous year.

In February the company warned it was carrying almost £4bn in debt.
