Events iPhone and iPad app used by 400 EAACI visitors

UK - Propeller Mobile’s events app (application), designed for Apple’s iPhone and newly-introduced iPad, has so far been used by over 400 visitors at the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI) annual congress, held in London 5-9 June.

The app was developed for events organiser Congrex to be used throughout its portfolio of events and EAACI was the first event to use it.

“Propeller Mobile helped us innovate and provide our first event application to our clients, who were very impressed,” says CEO of Congrex Dr Layth Bunni. “Although we gave them a very tight deadline they stepped up to the challenge and delivered a great product.”

The app was used a total of 3,646 times throughout the five-day event, says Propeller Mobile, and is designed as a “pop-up instant social network” for visitors. Once downloaded, they can use an interactive map, view event details and times, receive reminders of key events and interact with speakers and exhibitors by sending instant messages.

Users can also create their own digital profiles on the app, promoting themselves to other visitors and exhibitors. The app includes hotel and travel information.

A version allowing exhibitors and sponsors to sell products or deliver demos via the app is planned and Propeller Mobile hopes the new service will allow organisers to extract more return on investment (ROI) from face-to-face meetings.

Operations director for Propeller Mobile, Ryan Malone, says: “With statistical usage data and user-generated content, Congrex can see exactly what’s popular at the event and what’s not, so it is extremely valuable when shaping future events.”

The app will also be used at the international MicroScience conference and exhibition at Excel London from 28 June to 1 July 2010.
