Canadians champion E3 exhibits as computer sales slump

CANADA – As sales of computer hardware and software fall US$560m compared to this time last year, Canadian games developers are confident a presence at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) will help fight the slump.

Canada is the third-biggest manufacturer of video games, after Japan and the US, hiring more than 14,000 people in video gaming industry.

Executive director of the Entertainment Software Association of Canada, Danielle Parr, says that "exhibiting at shows like E3 is the only principal way for video-game manufacturers to display their wares to worldwide visitors".

The world's two biggest game expansion studios have a considerable Canadian presence, namely Electronic Arts and Ubisoft. Both will have large stands at E3, promoting a lot of made-in-Canada products.

E3 takes place on 15 – 17 June 2010 at the Los Angeles Convention Centre.
