Trio take top honours in 2010 UFI operations competition

PARIS – The Direct Energy Centre in Toronto, Fira Barcelona and Messe Munich International were announced as winners in UFI’s annual ICT and Operations Award competition.

Members of the global exhibition community selected this year’s contenders for the Operations award for providing hands-on solutions to industry issues in the fields of information technology and customer relations management.

Both Toronto and Barcelona, chosen as finalists by the UFI Operations Committee, made presentations at the UFI Operations Focus Meeting in Paris, where an eventual winner was expected to be announced after voting by meeting participants.

However, the 2010 Operations Award was jointly awarded for Toronto’s scheme to lower the energy consumption associated with operating exhibition facilities, and Barcelona’s broader look at reducing operations costs, freeing and reinvesting resources to improve service.

The 2010 UFI ICT competition required candidates to provide CRM applications successfully implemented by an exhibition organiser or venue manager. Messe Munchen International won the award for a CRM business project based around the seamless restructure and professionalisation of its relationship with its two million trade fair visitors.

Other finalists were Impact Exhibition Management, Bangkok and Jaarbeurs Utrecht in the Netherlands.
