Olympic Stadium builder pays owners £35m in dividends

UK - The construction firm behind the 2012 Olympic Stadium, Sir Robert McAlpine, reportedly paid its family owners £35m in dividends last year despite a fall in the company’s profits after tax.

The construction firm’s profits fell from £37.9m in 2008 to £32.2m last year. According to the company’s financial report, the total payout to the McAlpine family was 40 per cent up on the previous year.

Sir Robert McAlpine's recent construction projects include exhibition and meeting venues Excel London, the O2 Arena, Wales Millennium Centre and Wembley Stadium, as well as the Imperial War Museum, Newcastle Airport and the Eden Project.
