Helsinki Convention Centre to expand

FINLAND - The Helsinki Exhibition and Convention Centre in Pasila plans to expand, with the construction of a new exhibition hall and the addition of more parking space for visitors and exhibitors.

The new 14,000 square metre hall and multipurpose space is said to increase the floor-area by around 30 per cent and is expected to come with a price tag of EUR 57m. It is scheduled for completion in August 2011.

Pentti Kivinen, the MD of the Finnish Fair Corporation says: “Naturally the choice of timing is interesting, but we have run up against the top end of our capacity in the current premises, particularly during the autumn, which is the busiest season for congresses.”
