You’ve launched a DEI and Belonging initiative: Now what?

The Society of Independent Show Organisers (SISO) is asking its members who have launched a DEIB initiative and are looking to maximise engagement from your employees and attendees – what next?

For those SISO members in the planning stages of their DEIB initiative and interested in hearing best practices from other members who are currently working to make their organisations and events more inclusive, the Society is encouraging to consider registering for a webinar session on 20 June (11-12pm EST) dedicated to just that. 

SISO is putting up a panel of experts will dig into these and other questions in a webinar geared to foster collaborative discussion on best practices for organisations of all sizes to create and promote diverse and inclusive events. 

The panel includes:

Ray Rhodes, head of inclusion & diversity, RX Global.

Ray has launched some important initiatives across RX, including forming the RX Global Inclusion Council, an I&D advisory board comprised of RX colleagues from 19 countries, representing many cultures and diversity dimensions. He has developed and implemented the Global I&D strategy for the business and oversees the delivery of programmes that promote unconscious bias awareness, team psychological safety, equality allyship and inclusive leadership. Before joining RX, Ray served as vice-president of human resources for The Bank of New York for 13 years.

Michelle Metter, partner, Fast Forward Events.
Michelle is a co-founder of Fast Forward Events, creators of events and content for wine, beer and spirits industry.

With over two decades of experience in for-profit and association event management and production, Michelle has established herself as a visionary leader with a passion for creating impactful experiences that shape industries.

Michelle serves on numerous boards including SISO, IAEE, the San Diego Tourism Authority, San Diego Events Coalition and the Home of Guiding Hands Board of Governors. She holds a WSET 2 in Wine and Spirits.

Mike Sealy, VP, diversity, equity and inclusion, Informa Markets 

Mike is a British leader with Afro-Caribbean heritage. A thought leader with experience of leading teams across complex international matrixed organisations and a strong track record of delivering.

He leads, coordinates, and champions the D&I efforts across the Informa business to ensure the long-term sustainability of their global D&I strategy in relation to the company’s colleagues, customers, content, and communities.
 

The webinar will be moderated by Melissa K. Montes (pictured), VP, AXN & WIN, DEIB business lead, Clarion Events.

Melissa is vice-president of Airport Experience News (AXN) and Womenswear in Nevada (WWIN) where she is responsible for the strategic vision of both portfolios. She is also the DEIB business lead for Clarion Events North America. She holds certifications in Leading Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion from universities Northwestern and Cornell.
