Two UFI Forums to raise the curtain on European Conference in Maastricht in June

UFI, the global association for the exhibition industry will organise two specialist Forums, 13-14 June, just prior to its European Conference to be hosted in Maastricht, The Netherlands (14-16 June). Both Forums are open to all industry professionals.

The exhibition industry faces severe challenges globally due to staff shortages and the topic of the HR Forum this year is: Innovative talent retention and recruitment. The programme is put up by UFI HR Working Group and is designed to be intimate, interactive, sharing, peer-to-peer, and practical. This is a hot topic with many organisations struggling with staff shortage. How to find new skills and new talent? How to retain talent? How to make our industry the place to be for talents are just some of the questions to be tackled in the Forum.

It is essential that the industry attracts and retains talent if it is to continue to organise exhibitions and operate event venues successfully. So, the UFI HR Management Forum is a ‘must-attend’ event for any professional wishing to gain insight into innovative talent retention and recruitment strategies, and to discover best-practice examples from across the exhibition industry and beyond.

The Forum will include panel discussion and breakout sessions covering:

  • Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
  • The talent narrative of our industry
  • Harnessing the power of talent data
  • Early career development/The talent pipeline
  • Career path development for later career.

The Ops & Services Forum will be held under the topic theme of: Delivering trade fairs and events in uncertain times: How operations and services are focusing on the key challenges. This programme has been put together by UFI Operations and Services Working Group and designed as a one-day event targeted at senior exhibition industry professionals from around the world.

Topics that will be addressed through industry examples will include:

  • Energy management
  • Waste management
  • Staff efficiency
  • Sustainable logistics.

“In these turbulent times the operational challenges have further increased. The exchange between professionals in this field will help all attendees to get ideas how to master the issues on sustainability and operational excellence,” said Dr Stefan Eckert, Koelnmesse GmbH, Operations & Services Working Group chair.

UFI CEO Kai Hattendorf added: “It’s great to have the UFI Forum events back! There is nothing like a room full of specialists from our industry discussing their respective pressing matters of the day. Traditionally, every participant leaves with pages full of notes for their work, with old contacts renewed and new contacts made.”
