Singapore connects in Asia with co-located shows for the geospatial, remote sensing and drone sectors

The recent co-located Geo Connect Asia (GCA), a pivotal event for the geospatial and remote sensing industries, and Drones & Uncrewed Asia 2024, drew 2,785 participants combined from over 52 countries to the Sands Expo and Convention Centre in Singapore. A third show, the inaugural Marine & Hydro Asia, also ran in conjunction with the the other two exhibitions at the venue.

GCA 2024 spotlighted the theme ‘Geospatial Driven Impacts: Underground, Land and Sea to Sky’, emphasising the transformative role of geospatial technologies.

Rupert Owen, co-founder of Geo Connect Asia, said: “The mainstreaming of geospatial technologies has been a major theme of the 2024 event and is one that will accelerate as industry and governments successfully apply proven solutions. The growing international positioning of Geo Connect Asia assists in exchanging experiences across regions. The additional focus on digital construction, marine & hydro and the UAV marketplaces also drives focus on the value of data acquisition and sharing to enhance accuracy and the on-time scheduling and delivery of key projects.”

Guest of Honour, Edwin Tong, Singapore’s minister for culture, community and youth and second minister for law, highlighted the exhibition platform’s role in facilitating international knowledge exchange and fostering collaborations: “These platforms [such as Geo Connect Asia] provide opportunities for deep knowledge-sharing, experience building as well as community-building… Today, countries are actively exchanging knowledge, sharing best practices, and really wanting to level up and gain knowledge from one another. I look forward to a lot more collaborations sparked off by Geo Connect Asia.”

Supported by industry leaders like Trimble, AECOM, and the Singapore Land Authority, GCA 2024 showcased innovations in drones, laser scanning, mapping systems, and geospatial software.

Business matching sessions were popular at this year’s show and next editions of Geo Connect Asia and Drones & Uncrewed Asia will be held at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre in Singapore, 9-10 April 2025.
