Companies in Singapore can hold larger work-related events provided they notify the authorities, following a relaxing of the restriction cap from 51 to 1,000 people. The new guidance has been published by the country's Ministry of Manpower.
The new ruling is subject to conditions, namely:
- The event is mask-on only. In particular, there must be no consumption of meals or beverages.
- Participants are predominantly static (seated or standing in a fixed position).
- Participants maintain at least one metre safe distance between one another and must be in zones of up to 100 persons per zone, with two metres between zones.
Event attendees have also to be fully vaccinated, have recovered from Covid-19 within the past 180 days, or be medically ineligible for vaccines.
The new rules also require event organisers of work-related events to submit relevant documents such as the floorplan and event schedule to the authorities for approval.
If the meeting or work-related event involves fewer than 50, it may be held without the requirement to notify the authorities.
MICE events such as large conferences, trade shows and exhibitions involving more interactions between participants will also require approval from the Ministry of Trade and Industry before they can proceed, as per existing requirement. a can use this form to apply for approval.
