Shanghai DLG Exhibitions and Events has been announced the winner of the 2021 UFI Digital Innovation Award for its work on the 2020 World AI Conference (WAIC). The online conference was staged online after just two months’ preparation and judges praised its impressive scale.
The judges of the award were this year looking for digital innovations that would help the exhibition industry manage and recover from the crisis and they reviewed a record number of entries this year – 32 from 14 countries.
The entry crop, the judges noted, represented an impressive collection of best-practice examples of digital innovation from within the industry.
Matthias ‘Tesi’ Baur, chairman of the UFI Digital Innovation Working Group, said he was “very impressed by the application of Shanghai DLG Exhibitions and Events as it demonstrated the agility of the company to react to the new situation our industry faced last year, but never losing focus of the customer’s benefits – which was greatly demonstrated by the project’s results. Congratulations to our first winner from China, and thanks to the entire Shanghai DLG team for sharing this industry best practice case with us.”
Chen Huifeng, president, DLG Exhibitions & Events, said the company was honoured to be chosen as the award winner. “In the case of Covid-19 last year, like many organisers we were forced to take our event online in only two months, and we were very happy to succeed on the scale that we did –over two million visitors attended our online exhibition,” Chen said.
The winner will present its case study live at the 88th UFI Global Congress in Rotterdam in November, together with the Winners of the other annual UFI Awards.
The two runners up for the 2021 UFI. Digital Innovation Award were ExpoPlatform and Aditus.
