The Penang Convention & Exhibition Bureau is moving its annual Penang Roadshow to India event into a hybrid format.
The event will feature a dinner hosted in selected Indian cities, but will take place virtually. It will stop through Kochi on 18 January, followed by Chennai on 20 January, and Mumbai on 25 January.
The event aims to connect sellers from Penang and other parts of Malaysia with Indian buyers from different sectors including business events, leisure travel, weddings, teambuilding events and more.
The virtual show has a total of 25 registered sellers from Penang and the larger Malaysia travel and business events industry, and will be welcoming more than 200 buyers in total.
Ashwin Gunasekeran, CEO of PCEB, commented: “I believe we can return the form of India being the top five market for Business Events Penang if we continue to work together to build the business. The partners and participants for the roadshow who are present shows our commitment in ensuring the sustainability of the India – Penang travel business.”
Penang State Minister for Tourism and Creative Economy, the Hon. Mr Yeoh Soon Hin, said: “Penang is ready to welcome you and all Indian travellers back to Penang. We look forward to the day that you could personally indulge yourselves in the best that Penang has to offer; from its amazing food to our world-class hospitality.”
The Rt. Hon. Chow Kon Yeow, Chief Minister of Penang, added: “The business events industry’s resilience is truly inspiring and I believe the industry will rebuild itself faster through a positive momentum set by the bureau and the Business Events Penang industry players. Understanding that, the Penang State Government has also taken a number of initiatives to help the industry recover, which also includes a 3-year long Business Events Penang Rejuvenation Plan 2021 – 2023.”
