BorneoCraft Global Expo and Conference (BCG) 2024 is expected to welcome 50,000 expo visitors, 300 exhibitors, 300 conference delegates and a lineup of local and international speakers. All will convene from 27 November to 1 December at Waterfront Kuching in Sarawak, Malaysia.
The 5-day event will present a blend of crafts, foods, beverages and arts in a series of pavilions, each representing different parts of the world.
Deputy minister of tourism, creative industry, and performing arts Datuk Snowdan Lawan envisions BCG 2024 growing similarly to the Rainforest Music World Festival. He called BCG Sarawak’s homegrown event.
Visitors can also sign up to participate in crafts workshops in the historic Sarawak Steamship Building, the headquarters of Sarawak Craft Council. Manager of the Craft Council Suriya Charles Buas said that the event will attract visitors from a wide audience by showcasing crafts and gastronomy of nations such as Iran, Zambia and the countries of Latin America.
BCG 2024 will also introduce the crafts version of the ‘MasterChef Challenge’ – the ‘MasterCraft Challenge’. This initiative aims to discover master crafters of Sarawak.
Another event coming to the region is the Sarawak Sustainability Insights (SSI) 2024 conference. On 29 October, 500 delegates ranging from government agency representatives, industry leaders, international dignitaries and financial institution members will convene at the Pullman Hotel in Kuching.
The purpose of the event is to kickstart a conversation among stakeholders in various sectors to collaborate on sustainability initiatives in Sarawak.
The Premier of Sarawak, The Right Honourable Abang Johari, commented: “Sarawak is continuously advancing not just its clean energy strategy, but also other aspects of the ESG components to encompass a holistic approach, ensuring that we remain a leader in sustainability”.
