Lumia Ankkuri (pictured) has been appointed marketing and communications director of Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre. Ankkuri, who has extensive experience in the event business and event marketing, takes up the post from 15 June. She moves up from the role of business manager at the venue.
Lumia Ankkuri graduated from London Metropolitan University in 2012 with a Master of Arts degree majoring in Events Marketing Management. Since then she has been responsible for professional and large public events, including the Matka Nordic Travel Fair.
“Lumia Ankkuri is a result-oriented leader of large-scale entities….and is immediately ready to work and develop, and we now need just such a professional in this position,” said Anni Vepsäläinen, managing director of Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre. “We greatly appreciate Ankkuri’s expertise, innovativeness and courage.”
Ankkuri will be responsible for the marketing and communications organisation at the venue, which currently includes 14 professionals within communications, marketing and graphic design.
“Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre promotes Finnish business by enabling successful face-to-face encounters at various events. We do long-term sustainability work by taking responsibility for the environment, the economy and people. The event industry is now on the rise and requires a lot of new thinking and action. I am ready to take on this new challenge,” said Ankkuri.
