Footwear, textiles and furniture shows plan return to fire up Turkish manufacturing on the global stage

Turkish tradefair organiser CNR Holding is opening the doors in March for the return of its exhibitions. The exhibitions will be organised under the new ‘return to normal’ criteria determined by the Turkish government and UFI, the global association of the exhibition industry.

Firstly, the 64th AYMOD – International Footwear Fashion Fair – is scheduled at CNR Expo Center Istanbul, 31 March-3 April, 2021. The exhibition traditionally brings buyers together from all over the world and will be organised by CNR Holding subsidiary, Pozitif Trade Fairs, with the co-operation of TASD (Footwear Industrialists Association of Turkey) and TASEV (Turkish Footwear Industry Sector Research, Development and Education Foundation) and the support of KOSGEB (Small and Medium Enterprises Development Organisation of Turkey).

The same venue will then host one of the world’s two largest exhibitions on home textiles, 26th EVTEKS – Istanbul International Home Textiles Exhibition –18-22 May, 2021. A thousand companies from 130 countries are expected to present their products to over 100,000 industry professionals, and organisers are predicting that the exhibition will grow 20% in size.

Ranked first in Europe and fourth in the world for the manufacture and export of home textiles, the Turkish home textile industry aims to discover new markets and boost its existing market volume of US$13bn through the exhibition.

Taking place later in summer on new dates, the world’s biggest furniture-only exhibition, CNR IMOB – International Istanbul Furniture Fair, will run 3-8 August, 2021. Organisers of this 17th edition of this key tradeshow are expecting to attract 750 companies and 42,000 buyers from over 130 countries to CNR Expo. The exhibition is expected to deliver a trade volume and business deals worth US$2bn and illustrate the strength of the Turkish furniture industry, with its 40,000 manufacturers exporting  to 180 countries.

CNR IMOB will also host the International Furniture Industry Summit, where important industry-related topics, including the future of the Turkish furniture industry in the post-pandemic era, will be discussed in depth.

A comprehensive system of HES (health) code requirements for participation in all CNR exhibitions will be in operation for all the above shows.

Entrance and exit points of the exhibitions have been re-configured at the venue. Body temperature will be checked at entrances. External air is used in ventilation systems and the air inside is kept clean permanently. The number of people at the exhibition venue in any single period of time will be controlled. Turkey recently eased international travel restrictions, although a small pick up in coronavirus cases has been detected and travellers are advised to check for official updates and travel advisories.

Turkish suppliers, however, are now seeing an opportunity, with the changing attitudes among buyers towards supply chains, for Turkey to develop as a key hub due to its geographical location, offering attractive transportation times and deliveries (particularly in comparison to China) to many locations due to its proximity to the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and Europe.

The previous edition of AYMOD in October was testimony to increasing interest, with Italians, Russians, Germans, Chinese, Senegalese and Czechs all taking part on the same platform.

CNR Holding also. reports that 387 exhibitions (143 of which are international), are expected to take place across Turkey this year and that this company alone intends to run 41 exhibitions in 2021 and 60 exhibitions in 2022.
