German tradeshow organiser NürnbergMesse has taken the decision, in agreement with the Department of Environment and Health of the City of Nuremberg, not to hold its biannual international exhibition for windows doors and facades, Fensterbau Frontale (run in conjunction with Holz-Handwerk) in 2020.
The uncertain situation in the woodworking industry and in window, door and facade construction, combined with declining sales and production cessation and international travel restrictions, the organiser said, had forced the cancellation.
The show is held in Nuremberg every two years and organisers say they will run it next from 29 March to 1 April 2022.
“We would like to express our sincere thanks for the numerous trusting and constructive discussions with industry representatives over the past few days, who have supported us in our decision-making process. Our goal of creating a special experience for exhibitors and visitors with the events Fensterbau Frontale and Holz-Handwerk and enabling the varied establishment and expansion of business relations cannot be realised under the influence of the corona crisis,” said Petra Wolf, Member of the Management Board of NürnbergMesse.
Over 1,300 exhibitors from 42 countries and more than 110,000 visitors from well over 100 countries were originally expected at the 2020 tradeshow which had been initially postponed from March to June 2020 in the hope of holding it in the year of its usual rotation at least. “The need for information and exchange will be greater than ever after this crisis,” said Stefan Dittrich, Director of Holz-Handwerk.
“Fensterbau Frontale and Holz-Handwerk, as leading trade fairs, will continue to offer the sectors orientation and remain platforms for business success. That is why we are now looking ahead and setting the course for 2022, and we are convinced that nothing can replace personal contact in the business world either,” Dittrich added.
