The Netherlands' Maastricht University Medical Center+ will expand its care capacity for coronavirus patients into the exhibition halls of MECC Maastricht should the maximum capacity for patients be reached in the region of Limburg’s existing hospitals.
This extra measure means that MUMC+ can properly prepare for an increase in the number of patients with coronavirus. The extra capacity should be available as of Saturday 4 April, the MECC has said.
The temporary emergency hospital in MECC Maastricht is intended for patients who have been diagnosed with the coronavirus but who are not eligible for intensive care and for whom basic care is sufficient. This concerns low-complex, nursing care.
The new transformed facility should be able to accommodate around 250 beds.
