The 32nd edition of Chinaplas, the international trade show for the plastics and rubber industry, took place at the new National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC) in Shanghai, 24-27 April 2018.
Chinaplas is organised by Adsale Exhibition Services Ltd.
Amaplast, the Italian plastics and rubber processing machinery and moulds manufacturers’ association, organised the Italian Pavilion within Chinaplas.
Alessandro Grassi (pictured left), president of Amaplast, said that “the significant participation of Italian companies as a collective affirms both the stature of this event and the importance of the Chinese market for our machinery manufacturers.”
Italian exports to China for the sector were worth some EUR135m (US$166.4m) in 2017 – 2.5 per cent less than in 2016. Within this overall negative trend, the provision of core machinery – high-tech lines that are often custom built – has increased.
The new NECC is much larger than the Pudong Center that hosted the exhibition up to 2016 in Shanghai (alternating with Guangzhou).
Covering a total exhibition area of 320,000sqm, Chinaplas brought together an estimated 4,000 exhibitors from 40 countries and regions.
Hosting some 60 Italian businesses, the area reserved for the Italian pavilion increased by nearly 20% (occupying around 2,000sqm).
