Consumer Electronics Show to allow non-industry visitors

USA – The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), organiser of the 2011 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, will allow a limited number of consumer visitors to attend the event for the first time.

CES is the world’s largest tradeshow for consumer technology and the largest annual tradeshow in the USA. Previously, the show has been open only to industry professionals. However, 100 technology enthusiasts next year will be allowed to attend the show at a discounted rate, and take advantage of discounts offered by CES exhibitors.

“Technology-focused consumers are a vital part of growing the consumer electronics industry,” said CEA CEO Gary Shapiro. “We want to provide them with insider benefits to pay them back for their years of dedication to this market.

In early 2010, CEA bought the rights to the ‘World Trade Centre, Las Vegas’ trademark to help establish a Las Vegas centre for the electronics market.
