Milan Expo 2015 set to boost Italian overseas investment

ITALY - The annual assembly of the Association of Foreign Banks in Italy (AIBE) began on Friday 10 December, an event locals hoped would lay the foundations for increased foreign investment as the country gears up to the Milan Expo 2015.

Milan mayor Letizia Moratti claims the city’s recently increased international marketing drive is what helped clinch the bid to host the world expo. And to ensure this drive remains, a new agreement has been signed by Expo 2015 and AIBE to boost international partnership projects and give foreign financial institutions in Italy a greater understanding of the local market.

“The collaboration between Milan municipality and AIBE is significantly increasing in view of the important infrastructures, technologies and environment projects related to Milan Expo 2015, which is a major opportunity to attract international investments in Milan,” said Moratti.

Milan is home to more than 280,000 companies, 3,000 of which are multi-nationals.
