Iranian firms take part in Baghdad expo

IRAQ – More than 30 Iranian companies are among the 700 attending the 2010 Baghdad International Fair this week.

The four-day exhibition kicked off on Monday in Baghdad and features exhibitors from 13 European and Asian companies. Exhibitors are showcasing their latest achievements in fields such as oil and construction industry, power, electronics and transport infrastructure.

Opening the event, Iraqi Prime Minister Noori Maliki told reporters that the fair was a message to the world that "Iraq is standing up and rebuilding and is on the right path".

"Today, with such international presence and global companies participation, Baghdad is rising after years of suffering,” he said.

Iran’s ambassador to Baghdad, Hassan Danaeifar, echoed Maliki’s comments, adding the event would contribute to the reconstruction of Iraq.
