Increased popularity prompts profit jump at Ryanair

UK - Ryanair’s half-year profits jumped 15 per cent following a major increase in passenger numbers.

The low-cost carrier, which claims its market share is continuing to grow, saw passenger numbers for the six-months to 30 September surpass 40 million - up 10 per cent year-on-year - while revenues climbed almost a quarter to €2.2bn.

The airline made a pre-tax profit of €482.5m (US$674m) for the half year, up on the €419.40m recorded for the same period last year.
