Chinese version of Green Globe Standard launched

CHINA – A Chinese language edition of the Green Globe Standard (GGS) has been launched at the 2010 PATA Travel Mart, which is held at The Venetian Macao Resort Hotel in Macau, China from 14 to 17 September.

Green Globe Partner (China) launched the complete translation of the ‘v1.3 standard’ for sustainable operation and management, as well as supporting documentation for environmental consultants and auditors. It says the translation provides businesses and government organisations across the greater China region access to the key criteria that define internationally-accepted sustainability practice.

"From now on, the language barrier will be removed. The Chinese version of the standard effectively promotes and encourages businesses to aim for the certification,” says Green Globe Partner (China) CEO, Steven Cheung. “This is a timely new initiative to assist travel and tourism businesses, as well as related enterprises, to move another step towards our commitment to the environment through conservation and sustainable practices.”

Convention and exhibition centres that have been awarded a Green Globe Certification so far include the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre, the Bangkok and the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, and the Kassel Convention Centre in Germany; as well as the European Association of Event Centres, which has become the first association in Germany to gain a Green Globe environmental certification.

GGC is based in California, USA, and is represented in over 83 countries.
