UK virtual travel event may grow for 2011

UK - The UK virtual travel sector event, Building the Best Luxury Travel Business, may run more editions next year after attracting 377 attendees on its debut in September.

Organised by travel industry publishers TTG, the two-day event allowed attendees to view webinars, videos and meet virtual exhibitors on the website. The average time attendees spent at the show was four hours 18 minutes.

“We were delighted with the level of industry reception to this new concept. It really allowed us and the exhibitors to reach out to agents and readers wherever they are,” said editor of trade magazine ttgluxury, April Hutchinson. “It attracted attendees from all over the UK and Ireland, and we are considering rolling out more events like this in 2011.”

Six exhibitors took a ‘virtual booth’ at the event, including Dubai Tourism, Crystal Cruises and travel company Cox and Kings.

Agency sales manager at Cox and Kings, Catherine Baer, said: “We wanted to be involved as it is a ground-breaking event. It was great to be a part of something innovative and we’ll continue to show our support for the trade.”
