First shows since restart send encouraging signal for German exhibition industry

Following a six month standstill for the industry due to the Covid-19 pandemic, 12 tradeshows have been successfully held in Germany, trade association AUMA reports.

The events included public fairs with international and regional appeal as well as tradefairs with regional to national catchment areas and international participation.

Around 180,000 visitors attended the exhibitions in the first month after the new start. While the events did not reach the exhibitor and visitor numbers of show held previously, due to the limitation of visitor numbers as a result of the regulations of the German federal states, travel restrictions and the deteriorated economic situation, exhibitors and visitors reported that they were "satisfied" with the results.

Jörn Holtmeier, managing director of  the Association of the German Tradefair Industry (AUMA), said: “These are encouraging signals for the other tradefairs planned for this year. Many exhibitors and visitors have been waiting for the new start to get their business going again. The road to normality is long, but we are making progress”.
