ExCeL London set to benefit from big improvement in train frequency serving its stations

With transport connections long being the Achilles heel for ExCeL London, the venue finally has strong grounds for its claim to be one of the best connected event venues, following Transport for London’s announcement that trains servicing its dedicated station (Custom House) are set to increase to the equivalent of one train every two minutes.

The timetable changes, to both the Docklands Light Railway (DLR), which also serves the venue, and the new high-speed Elizabeth line, equate to an increase of 237.5% compared to just six months ago, with up to 27 trains per hour at peak times (54 trains in both directions).

DLR services have effectively doubled from one train every eight minutes to one train every four minutes.

From early November, the second phase of the Elizabeth line will also allow international visitors to travel directly to the venue from Heathrow Airport in an estimated 43 minutes providing there are no delays. This phase will also see the introduction of a Sunday service, meaning up to 24 trains per hour, seven days a week.

The £20bn Elizabeth line opened on 24 May and a new station at Bond Street will be opened in early in October, connecting ExCeL visitors directly to the West End.
