ExCeL London, UK, has announced a new chief commercial officer, facilities director, and executive director of event management and guest experience within its senior leadership team.
Following on from the reveal of its 25,000sqm expansion programme commencing later this year, the Royal Docks venue has appointed Lee Lacey (pictured centre) to the newly created role of facilities director.
Lacey will oversee engineering, building maintenance, mains and the wider ExCeL estate, along with working on the venue’s ongoing investment and expansion projects. Lacey previously worked at The O2 for 15 years where he helped the venue install wind turbines.
Simon Mills (left) has been promoted to chief commercial officer, with responsibility for all commercial activity, including both core business and new ventures. As well as aiming to drive space revenues, Mills will also have commercial responsibility for areas including IT, Media, F&B and ancillary services.
Anna Clover (right) has been promoted to executive director of event management and guest experience. Having joined the business in 2020, her new role will expand to include strategic responsibility for all customer-facing services, as well as sustainability which includes the support of a newly-appointed dedicated sustainability manager.
Following the investment, ExCeL has now finished work on its digital infrastructure, with several LED screens installed around the venue’s campus. The venue’s expansion is expected to conclude in early 2024.
ExCeL London CEO Jeremy Rees said: “These new appointments will enable us to continuously evolve and develop our proposition to ensure that ExCeL – and London – remain internationally competitive, and a destination of choice for globally recognised events.”
