CloserStill Media expands in Germany with spring Messe acquisition

UK-based organiser CloserStill Media has acquired German exhibition organiser spring Messe, operator of the Zukunft Personal tradeshow series for the HR sector.

spring Messe was a wholly-owned subsidiary of Deutsch Messe AG.  Terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

Zufunft Personal Europe, which takes place in Cologne in September, is Europe’s largest annual event for the human resources sector, with an audience of 20,000 HR professionals and an exhibition in excess of 12,500sqm of sold space.

The Zukunft Personal events will join CloserStill’s corporate learning and development global event network, which includes Online Educa (OEB – Berlin), Learning Technologies in London and Paris, DevLearn (Las Vegas) and Learning (Orlando).

Zukunft Personal Europe also incorporates two regional events, in addition to the Cologne event. They take place in Hamburg and Stuttgart in the spring.

spring Messe operations will continue at its Mannheim base and the offices will become the hub for CloserStill’s future German activities. CloserStill also operates veterinary, corporate learning and development and technology event brands in Germany.

“With Zukunft Personal now part of our growing global learning network, we are excited about the expansion and growth opportunities ahead… We’re delighted to have the team behind it now part of the growing CloserStill family as we look to further expand our presence across our European markets,” said Alexia Maycock, CMO of CloserStill.

“We are delighted to have found a new home for spring Messe and our colleagues in Mannheim. We have no doubt the shows and the team at spring Messe will continue to thrive under new the ownership,” said Jochen Koeckler, CEO of Deutsche Messe AG.

As part of the reorganisation at spring Messe, CloserStill’s Astrid Jaeger will join the management team in Mannheim.
