The first edition of Abu Dhabi Global Healthcare Week (ADGHW) took place at ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi, 13-15 May. Hosted by Abu Dhabi Department of Health, organised by dmg events and supported by ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi, this major government initiative sought to create a platform for the local, regional and global healthcare communities.
The event attracted over 11,500 visitors, 1,600 delegates and 271 speakers. Nearly 100 countries were represented and there were international and local government delegations.
The conference and exhibition took place over two halls and the airy Atrium space at ADNEC while the conference tracks were accommodated in Conference Rooms A and B.
An extensive agenda explored four knowledge pillars featuring the Future Health Summit, Live Stage Sessions, the Partnership for Health System Sustainability and Resilience and the Health Leaders Forum. It was an exclusive, invitation only forum.
The ADGHW exhibition featured innovations in healthcare technology from more international exhibitors and was the platform for announcements such as the launch of the Abu Dhabi Biobank, the region’s largest hybrid cord blood back as a result of a collaboration between the Department of Health Abu Dhabi and M42, an Abu Dhabi based health tech company. There were a number of strategic partnerships formed, tackling pressing global healthcare concerns such as vaccine access and the fight against breast cancer.
The event was inaugurated by His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Council. His Highness’ address underscored Abu Dhabi’s commitment to supporting investment in the healthcare and life sciences sector and highlighted the Emirate’s position as a leading global healthcare hub.
Salman Abou Hamzeh, senior vice-president at dmg events, described the partnership with the venue as “brilliant”.
“We couldn’t do this without ADNEC’s support, particularly the team and all the services that ADNEC provides. Thank you very much and we are looking forward to a bigger event in 2025,” he added.
Abu Dhabi Global Healthcare Week will take place 20-22 May in 2025.
