Australia's EEAA puts on December programme to ring in in-person events for 2021

The Exhibition and Event Association of Australasia (EEAA) is delivering an end-of-year programme, featuring three key events that will be broadcast live on 8 December from the International Convention Centre, Sydney (ICC Sydney).

Claudia Sagripanti, EEAA chief executive, said: “Following a turbulent year for the exhibition and business events industry, we recognised the importance of bringing together industry leaders and the wider events community to cement our strategic framework for moving forward in 2021 and to provide a platform for industry members, where possible, to meet in-person.

“We have designed an event programme that will feature international guest commentators and senior leaders from the exhibition and business events community, to honour the important achievements of 2020 via the EEAA Awards for Excellence and celebrate the return of face-to-face events in 2021.”

The event programme includes: The EEAA Annual General Meeting and election of the EEAA Executive Committee; an invitation-only CEO Forum with CEOs of venues, suppliers and organisers discussing " global and local issues and structural changes across all the sectors of the industry; and the 2020 EEAA Awards for Excellence (featuring two award categories) and end-of-year celebration.

The programme will run in a hybrid format and include in-person attendance at ICC Sydney and a live broadcast via the ICC Sydney production facilities, offering the option for online attendance by EEAA members and non-members across Australia.

Sapgripanti said: “The category eligibility and criteria for the 2020 EEAA Awards for Excellence is designed to showcase the exceptional work of our young members via the Richard Geddes Young Achiever Award and the Unsung Heroes of our industry. The Awards will recognise those EEAA Member individuals who have delivered innovation, shown resilience, remained optimistic and garnered business confidence amongst the industry.”

Chaired by John Trevillian AM, the awards judging panel will be looking for the outstanding contributions made by the Young Achievers and Unsung Heroes in 2020.
