2020 Osong Cosmetics & Beauty Expo goes online

The 2020 Osong Cosmetics & Beauty Expo, which attracted a record 100,000 visitors in-person in 2019 is now moving online, organisers have announced.  Last year saw 1,152 buyers attend, 590 coming from overseas, organisers tell EW.  Organisers added the decision to go virtual was taken mainly due to the difficulty for overseas buyers travelling to Korea.

Under the slogan ‘K-Beauty Shines in Osong’, the show had been due to take place in Osong Station, Cheongju City, Chungcheongbuk-do Province in October 2020, but due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, it has been decided that the event will be held online.

Chungcheongbuk-do Province is a leading centre for the South Korean K-Beauty industry, and successfully hosts a range of B2B and B2C (Business-To-Customer) expos annually, events that contribute significantly to the promotion of Korea’s domestic cosmetics industry and its exports.

The move online follows a slew of domestic and overseas beauty expos being cancelled or postponed due to Covid-19.

Organisers say the online event, which will take place on the same dates as the in-person show (20-24 October) had been planned, will provide promotion and business consultation networking, while continuing to promote the local economy by assisting cosmetics businesses continue cultivating markets.

This online expo will have web sections dedicated to ‘Online Corporate and Product Information’, ‘Business Consulting’, ‘e-Conferences’, and ‘K-Beauty’ and it plans to provide product samples to selected domestic and international buyers in advance and host a product reviewer programme.

Organisers have yet to reveal a date for resuming the in-person event in 2021.
