Japan opened a new venue, the Aichi Sky Expo International Exhibition Centre, on 30 August.
The 80,000sqm space is located in Tokoname in the metropolitan area od Nagoya, Japan’s fourth largest city.
It is situated in the country’s largest industrial region, Chūbu, which is home to the headquarters of leading automotive manufacturers and large aerospace and robotic groups.
An opening ceremony was held at the venue with the Governor of the Aichi Prefecture, the Mayor of Nagoya, GL events Chairman/CEO Oliver Ginon, and more than 1,100 guests.
Aichi Sky Expo is the first Japanese exhibition centre whose management has been entrusted to a private operator, and it is the only exhibition centre in the country with direct access to an international airport.
The venue will be managed by GL events alongside Maeda Corporation, a Japanese construction and civil engineering company. It has already confirmed reservations for more than 50 events in the next six months.
GL events has also signed contracts to provide services representing €20m in revenue to the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, expanding its operations in Japan.
