Mash Media attended an evening presentation of Vienna’s latest landmark – the danubeSAIL – at the Austrian Embassy in London, 26 April.
The event took place a few weeks following the Austria Center Vienna’s recent unveiling of the largest construction project since its opening around 30 years ago.
An iconic canopy – or the danubeSAIL – will be added to the square outside the Austria Center Vienna (see images below), and is slated for completion in March 2020. By the time work is completed in 2022, this area will be transformed into a public space that brings people together, and adds a further 4,200sqm for events in either closed or open formats.
Hosts of the showcase included Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of the Austrian Embassy, Mrs Katharina Kastner, and the director of the Austria Center Vienna, Susanne Baumann-Söllner. Vienna Convention Bureau director Christian Mutschlechner was also present.
The programme included a Welcome Reception; followed by a Viennese reception. There were presentations on “The birth of a new landmark” (DanubeSAIL), and an introduction to Vienna “as one of the world’s most liveable cities.”
The post event get-together provided opportunity for a sensory experience of Vienna, with classic Viennese cuisine and wine.
