Show Snapshot: the Frankfurt Book Fair

Frankfurter Buchmesse 2016

The 68th edition of the Frankfurt Book Fair (11-15 October) featured Dutch and Flemish writers out in force

Author and columnist Arnon Grünberg, who writes for one of Germany’s main papers, De Volkskrant was named as guest of honour, stating: “I don’t feel like a representative of the Netherlands but it’s undeniable that you play a certain role in representing your country. Every author should experience the fair at least once so he knows how he’s being talked about.”

The Frankfurt Book Fair also boasted a new app, with VIP tours and better networking through ‘matchmaking’. The mobile Book Fair guide provided all the important information about the fair and its services including information about the fair’s exhibitors and events.

The Book Fair featured high- profile visitors including Gaby Wood, literary director of the Booker Prize Foundation, and author Ilija Trojanow.

The app’s new matchmaking function makes it easier to find business contacts using a keyword search. You can also network with new contacts, using LinkedIn directly from the app.

The exhibition also featured THE ARTS+, the first fair and conference worldwide to deal with new businesses in the creative and cultural industries. Along with a line-up of exhibitors and international technology experts, creative and cultural institutions showed innovative ideas for museums, architecture and design agencies and brands.
