Two congresses lost during Turkey coup attempt but show goes on, says bureau

Istanbul Convention and Visitors Bureau has told EW that two congresses were postponed as a result of the attempted military coup recently.“Of course, some immediate actions were taken by the congress organisers and venues; two of the congresses were postponed and one has been cancelled,” a bureau spokesperson said. “But, at the same time, the other planned events and congresses continue.

“To give examples from this week: Istanbul is hosting polymer scientists from all around the world at the World Polymer Congress.

“Moreover, International Innovation Business & Marketing Research Conference has started in the city.”

The bureau noted it was also focusing on further events and congresses that would be held in 2016 in the city such as: World Energy Congress, Congress of the Universal Postal Union, International Aerosol Congress & Exhibition and the World Congress on Human Resources Management.
