Israel’s Ministry of Tourism has announced a Safety Net initiative for MICE planners to support MICE trade partners planning international conferences in Israel from 2017 to 2020.
Safety Net is designed to increase confidence in the destination and will compensate companies for their marketing activities and promotions of international conferences in Israel that would need to be rescheduled or cancelled in the case of a geo-political situation.
Naama Oryan-Kaplan, director of the UK and Ireland for the Israel Government Tourist Office said: “Israel is a unique destination which has a wonderful mix of ancient history and modern entertainment. The Safety Net initiative will give MICE planners the confidence that international conferences are financially protected should they have to be rescheduled or cancelled.”
To be eligible for the scheme, international events need to host a minimum of 400 participants where 50% of attending delegates are not Israeli.
To apply for Safety Net, conferences will also need to be held over three days in Israel and will need to register through a DMC or academic institution accredited by the Councils for Higher Education.
