AMERICAS – Outoing UBM Americas chief executive Sally Shankland has revealed she will join publisher McGraw-Hill Education in November.
Shankland, who steps down at the end of June after resigning last month, will join the publisher as president of its higher education group.
As previously reported in EW, UBM Americas is expected to appoint Shankland’s successor in-house.
David Levin, McGraw-Hill Education president and chief executive, said: "While Sally's leadership skills, operations expertise, and integrity made her a standout candidate from the start, it is her strong desire to change lives through learning that makes her such an incredible fit for this role."
McGraw-Hill officials said Shankland’s appointment would coincide with the company’s move from publishing to “a learning science company that delivers personalised experiences”.
McGraw-Hill Education's group president of US education Peter Cohan said: “Sally brings deep knowledge of business transformations from print to digital, global perspective and a wealth of operational experience. I'm excited to have her join our talented, diverse team of senior leaders as we continue our progress in improving results through the science of learning."
Shankland said she was excited to join the publisher during “a pivotal point” in its transition.
"I've long been fascinated by how knowledge is strengthened through engagement, interactivity and community and can change lives for the better,” Shankland said.
