Singapore Expo prepares for 2014 event line-up

ASIA - Singapore EXPO Convention and Exhibition Centre is expecting to see a 10 per cent growth in the number of events and visitors compared to 2013, according to Singex Venues.

The venue saw more than 800 events attended by 7.5 million visitors in 2013, a 13 per cent increase in total events held and a 25 per cent rise in footfalls compared to 2012.

The venue spans over 123,000sqm of indoor and outdoor space, comprising convention/exhibition halls, conference halls, and meeting rooms. Singapore Expo claims to stage more than 800 events every year, ranging from exhibitions, conventions, corporate meetings, award ceremonies, gala banquets and consumer shows.

“We are looking forward to an exciting year ahead and are gearing up for a strong event line up in 2014,” said Singex Venues CEO Aloysius Arlando. “Our operations, event services and technical support teams are well-equipped to meet the exacting demands and challenges of these mega shows.”

In March, the venue will stage its longest running event, the International Furniture Fair Singapore (IFFS), which will occupy a total of 60,000sqm of gross exhibition space and will attract an estimated 450 exhibitors and 18,000 visitors from over 100 countries.

Another key event will be the eighth Food & Hotel Asia (FHA), which is expected to be the largest edition to date. In April, the exhibition will occupy 95,000sqm of gross exhibition space with 2,800 exhibitors from 70 countries and an expected 64,000 trade attendees from 95 countries.

Singapore EXPO is also set to host the two largest corporate meetings ever to be held in Singapore, Herbalife Extravaganza Asia-Pacific in May and Nu Skin Southeast Asia Regional Convention in July, attracting a combined total of more than 30,000 delegates. These meetings will span across some 60,000 to 70,000sqm of event space.

“We are pleased that many of our clients believe in Singapore EXPO with a long term view of growing their events, both in scale and structure, to be more successful editions in future.

“We have always endeavoured to be the preferred venue partner for organisers who desire to grow their shows to become leading events in their respective industry sectors, while simultaneously contributing significantly towards Singapore’s economy and the MICE industry. This drives our team to continuously strive for service excellence as we grow together with our clients,” he said.

The venue opened a convention wing, MAX Atria in 2012, with additional meeting facilities and greenspaces. MAX Atria is certified Green Mark Platinum by the Singapore’s Building and Construction Authority.
