Wetex 2014 prepares for 1,500 exhibitors

MIDDLE EAST - The organiser of the Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition (Wetex) has claimed a 9.3 per cent increase in exhibitors compared to 2013, more than three months ahead of the show.

The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) attracted 1,362 exhibitors in 2013, and has so far registered 1,500 companies for the 2014 event.

More than 15,800 visitors are expected to attend Wetex on 14-16 April, to be held at the Zabeel Hall and Halls 1-8 Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

“Wetex has established outreach in many countries around the world, and due to the growing international interest from energy, water, oil and gas and the environment sectors, the exhibition is attracting an increasing number of companies and international organisations engaged in these vital sectors more than previous editions,” said Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, managing director and chief executive officer of Dewa.

“The UAE is playing a leading role globally in establishing new principles in accelerating the pace towards green economy and environment sustainability. Wetex 2014 is an ideal venue to discuss roadmaps to reach a sustainable and achieve green economy,” he added.

The exhibition will coincide with the World Green Economy Summit, held in the UAE in collaboration with the Dubai Green Economy Partnership under the theme ‘Global Partnerships, Sustainable Future,’ where Dewa supervises its organisation under the umbrella of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy.

In April, the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre will also be playing host to the 10th International Property Show where more than 20,000 visitors are expected to attend.
