IBTM India 2014 moves to Chennai

ASIA - Reed Travel Exhibitions has announced that this year’s IBTM India meetings industry tradeshow will move from Mumbai to “another up and coming MICE destination” of Chennai in September.

Shinu Pillai, IBTM India project manager said that Chennai is the fifth most populous city in India and one of the fastest growing cities in the world.

“IBTM India has now established itself as a key event in the meetings industry calendar. The launch edition, hosted in Mumbai, was a huge success and as part of our ongoing drive and determination to develop the meetings industry market in India we have chosen to move the show to another up and coming MICE destination.”

IBTM India 2014 will take place on 3-5 September at the ITC Grand Chola and will assume a similar table-top format as the launch event in 2013. It is designed to facilitate pre-arranged meetings between international and Indian buyers with suppliers over a table-top environment with a 1:1 ratio.

Reed Travel Exhibitions claimed to have brought together 80 hosted buyers with 72 exhibitors.

The organiser also reported 2,496 appointments had been arranged for the hosted buyers in 2013, who came from 16 countries and also from eight cities in India. Suppliers represented 22 foreign countries.

IBTM India forms part of the IBTM Reed Travel Exhibitions Meetings, Events and Business Travel Portfolio along with AIME, GIBTM, CIBTM, AIBTM, EIBTM and IBTM Africa.
